The Portsmouth Humane Society, located in Portsmouth, VA, is what we lovingly refer to as a "sister shelter." They have graciously answered our call for help numerous times when we've reached capacity with dogs and cats. One of the true blessings of Portsmouth Humane Society is their unwavering commitment to not just the easiest-to-adopt animals. They've often welcomed pets that have spent extended periods in our shelter. They've taken in dogs that tested positive for heartworms and even some of our Bully breeds that might not have found homes at Tri-County Animal Shelter. Virginia Beach SPCA, located in Virginia Beach, VA, is one of our partnering sister shelters, and always acts swiftly when our shelter needs it the most. Rather it be litters of puppies or litters of kittens, they are always willing to help in any way possible.TCAS has benefited immensely from the partnership with VBSPCA, as they have played a crucial role in alleviating overcrowding and providing a safe haven for our animals. By taking animals into their care, they have not only created more space and resources for us to accommodate new arrivals but also ensured that each animal receives the individual attention and care they deserve. For numerous years, our collaboration with Lab Rescue has been invaluable. They've tirelessly pulled countless labs, including those with severe medical conditions, and ensured they received the necessary medical care. Every lab found a loving home through their efforts. Sophia's Grace is a recent addition to our partners, and collaborating with them has truly been delightful. Their compassion shines through, exemplified by their care for a dog in need of end-of-life support. They provided her with a loving home environment until her last moments, ensuring she experienced comfort and affection until she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Powellsville Pet Clinic, located in Colerain, NC, is partnered with TCAS as our emergency veterinarian for all after hour emergencies.
