"I am proud to be the Shelter Director here at TCAS. I have been is some form of animal welfare for 30 years. I started my journey in Private Practice Veterinary Medicine, and then moved into the non profit world of Shelter Medicine until I landed in the world of Animal Sheltering. I have experience with large and small domestic animals. I have a passion for wildlife. I spend my spare time trail riding with my 11yo walking horse "Doodle". I am very encouraged with the plans we have in place for TCAS and I am look forward to working with the people in Chowan, Gates and Perquimans Counties."
Volunteer Social Media Manger
"My journey began as a kennel tech at Tri-County, and over the years, I’ve worn many hats—including adoption counselor in North Florida and veterinary technician—each role deepening my commitment to animal welfare. With training from Maddie’s University, the University of Florida, and Penn Foster, I now create social media and website content that brings rescue stories to life, inspiring adoptions and raising awareness. Every post is a chance to educate and connect our community with the amazing animals waiting for their second chance."
Cattery Manager/Office Administrator
" I am the Cattery manager. My career at Tri-County started only a few months ago, however, my passion and love for animals began at a very young age. I am excited to see where my career in animal welfare takes me ."
Animal Care Technician
"I started my adventure with Tri County Animal Shelter about a year and a half ago.
I have enjoyed my experiences here and have had the opportunity to learn a lot about animal husbandry, animal behaviors. It's always a pleasure working with people to try and help them find the right pet for there lifestyle.
I enjoy hunting and fishing in my spare time."
Animal Care Technician
"Ashley recently joined us from Wanchese, bringing seven years of experience as a veterinary assistant in private practice. Since moving to Chowan County four months ago, she has been a tremendous asset to our team, working closely with our cats and using her medical background to ensure each animal receives exceptional care. Ashley’s dedication to animal welfare is clear—she even adopted one of our beloved 'college pups,' showing her commitment to finding every animal a loving home."
Animal Care Technician
"I’ve been working with Tri-County Animal Shelter for a small amount of time and I told myself growing up that I would never work with animals but the time I have been here I have fallen in love with helping animals and helping them find there forever home. Seeing the enjoyment and the love that people have for the pets that they have adopted is truly amazing because there is good and bad in life and when you’re having a bad day seeing someone adopt there furry friend is amazing and being able to see these animals leave and go to there forever home is a wonderful feeling . So a little bit about me since I was little I have always liked to fish me and my mom used to go sit on the dock and catch the little bluegills so it has always been something that has helped me when I’m having a bad day and I love to hunt as well being in the woods when it is early morning, and hearing the birds and the world wake up is truly amazing I couple other things I like to do on my free time is read, make jewelry and go for late night drives with my dogs.
We have welcomed our new shelter kitty Lala into our shelter and into our hearts. When visiting our shelter Lala will be around to keep watch and to be visited with as well. Join us in welcoming Lala to our team
